Running Club

Description:

Oak Harbor Intermediate Intramurals is a FREE, after-school, co-ed program focused on building movement skills, fitness, and personal responsibility with peers. Each session will have a structured format. The goal is to introduce students to different aspects of running in a fun, supportive, and skill-based way, rather than just longer-distance runs. 

 

Goals:

-Participate in a safe and structured environment.

-Set goals, make COMMITMENTS, strive for personal bests, and follow through with responsibilities.

-Most importantly, enjoy the sport rather than the pressure to compete and win.

 

Important Information:

-Dates: Friday’s May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th

-Time: 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm

-Participants will meet in the Lower Field area, where attendance will be taken.

-Participants must wear gym appropriate shoes, and clothes. (NO sandals, short-shorts, etc).

-Participants will have 5 minutes to change, in the gym locker room (if necessary).

-Participants will be dismissed via “walker” or “parent pick up.” There is NO after Oak Harbor Intermediate program busing at this time. 

-Parent pick up will be at the front of Oak Harbor Intermediate.

-Participants are allowed to be picked up ONLY by the person listed on the Permission Form, unless a parent note is provided.

-It is important that you pick up your child promptly at 4:45. Late pick-ups will exclude your child from the program. 

-ALL paperwork must be completed and turned into the office prior to participation.

Exclusion from the Program:

-Three NO SHOWS.

(Participants will be excluded after 3 NO SHOWS unless accompanied with a teacher note, example; after Oak Harbor Intermediate tutorials, or a parent note, example; absence from Oak Harbor Intermediate).

 

-Three late arrivals

(Late arrivals will be sent down to the front office to call home, unless accompanied with a teacher note, example; after Oak Harbor Intermediate tutorials).

 

-Three late parent pick-ups

(“Parent pick up” participants must be picked up promptly at 4:45pm, at the front of Oak Harbor Intermediate).

 

-Three timed-sit-outs for misbehavior. 

(Participants will be asked to sit out when he/she is not following the the 3-R’s, Respectful, Responsible, and Ready, safety is a priority).

 

-1 Practice Abandonment

(Participants who roam around campus or leave campus and return after attendance has been taken will NOT be allowed to participate and will be sent down to the front office to call home, this is an automatic exclusion from the program).
