We are truly proud of the performance of our students with iReady Reading and Mathematics testing!
Our reading scores are in the high performance and high growth quadrant based on the data report below. This is our third year of success in reading! Now, our math--for our first time--have both grade levels in the same quadrant of high performance and high growth.

To celebrate our success, we have decided to let our teacher teams celebrate with a movie and popcorn day! They will be celebrating during Double Core on February 12th. Each team will work with students to vote on a movie of their choice. They will be given parameters for acceptable choices. Parents may opt their child out of the movie choice and their child will be given an alternative activity.

The Right Shoes for Comfort and Safety at School
|
We have been seeing multiple injuries caused by improper shoes while students are at school. Many districts across the nation are banning Crocs and slides for safety reasons. Whether you're rushing between classes, participating in gym activities, or walking long distances to and from school, having the right shoes can make all the difference. So, let's talk about proper shoes for school—and why Crocs and slides might not be the best choice.
Why the Right School Shoes Matter
-
Support and Comfort When you are on your feet all day, a comfortable, supportive shoe can help prevent foot pain, blisters, and discomfort. Shoes with good arch support, cushioning, and a proper fit can help reduce the strain on your feet and joints. This is especially important if you have a long school day, with lots of standing or walking.
-
Safety First School halls and outdoor spaces can be slippery, and having shoes that grip the floor properly can prevent accidental falls. Slip-resistant shoes with a good sole pattern are a great choice, helping you stay steady in the cafeteria or running to your next class.
-
Durability School shoes need to withstand a lot of wear and tear. Whether playing sports, walking between classes, or navigating a muddy schoolyard, you want shoes that will last. Durable, well-constructed shoes will protect your feet and give you more mileage through the school year.
-
Activity Versatility Some days require a little more movement than others—whether it’s gym class, outdoor recess, or just running to meet friends. Having a shoe that is versatile enough for different activities will keep you comfortable no matter what your day entails.

Why Crocs and Slides Aren’t the Best Options
|
While Crocs and slides are known for their comfort and ease of wear, they’re not ideal for school environments. Here’s why:
-
Lack of Support Crocs and slides typically offer little to no arch support, which can lead to foot discomfort over time. Without proper support, you’re more likely to experience foot pain or develop long-term issues like plantar fasciitis or shin splints, especially if you are on your feet.
-
Safety Concerns Both Crocs and slides easily slip off, which leads to accidents. Whether you're walking through the hallways or participating in physical activities, there’s a risk that these shoes could slip off unexpectedly or cause you to trip and fall.
-
Limited Durability While Crocs and slides are light and easy to slip on, they aren't as durable as traditional shoes. Prolonged wear can cause the material to break down faster, and they often don't hold up well to outdoor activities like running or sports.
-
Inappropriate for Certain Activities If your school has physical education classes, sports teams, or outdoor activities, Crocs and slides simply aren't appropriate. You need shoes that provide protection and stability, and this type of footwear leaves your feet vulnerable to injury.
So, What Shoes Should You Wear to School?
Look for shoes that combine comfort, support, and durability. Here are some great options for school footwear:
-
Sneakers: A solid, supportive pair of sneakers is always a good choice for school. Look for ones that offer good arch support and cushioning for comfort. They’re perfect for active days, gym class, and all the walking you’ll do around school.
-
Loafers or Flats: If you're looking for something a bit more stylish, loafers or flats can be a comfortable option that still provides good support. Look for ones with cushioned insoles and a sturdy sole for added comfort.
-
Boots: In colder months, boots are a great choice for warmth and comfort. Choose a pair with a rubber sole for good

We continue to experience cold temperatures especially in the early morning hours. As a reminder, students should dress for the weather. Guardians should ensure their student arrives no earlier than 8:40 AM as that is when staff supervision is provided and campus opens for students, including indoor spaces out of the weather (library, cafeteria).

We have a large lost and found collection again. Please remind your students to stop by and look for any missing items! These items are located in the front hallway by the office. Glasses and smaller items are stored in the front office.
